Why We Built This Site
Virginia offers several public and authorized record channels, but they do not merge into one Harrisonburg search. HPD keeps its incident reports. The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office operates the shared regional jail, while district and circuit clerks keep filed charges and outcomes. Virginia State Police runs CCRE and the state registry. Virginia Department of Corrections publishes its own custody and supervision locator. We organize the verified contacts, request steps, and limits for those offices without treating one source as a substitute for all the rest.
What You Will Find Here
- Case guidance: how criminal court cases move between the shared district and circuit courts
- Official check steps: how Virginia State Police name and fingerprint record products differ
- Local contacts: where HPD, HRECC, the regional jail, and the court clerks receive requests
- Record relief: how Virginia expungement and sealing routes begin with the court and CCRE record
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site with no connection to a Virginia court, sheriff, police department, or state agency. Those boundaries mean we cannot do the following:
- Run an official background check or retrieve a private record
- Submit a FOIA request, sealing petition, or other filing for a reader
- Issue a certified docket, police report, or CCRE history
- Give legal advice about a charge, warrant, or case
- Promise that an agency's fee, hours, or form has not changed
Only the originating office, such as HPD, a court clerk, the sheriff, or Virginia State Police, can issue an official record.
Search Partners
Search boxes on some pages are supplied by independent providers. Those providers control their services, results, and prices. A completed paid signup may produce a referral fee that supports this free reference resource. We neither set the charge nor control the provider's data. Official and certified Harrisonburg records still come from the government office that created or maintains them.
